History

1960

NAMCO introduced CHRYSLER into Greece and built the FARMOBIL® vehicle, in a joint-venture. ®http://www.allpar.com/cars/adopted/farmobil.html

1973

The NAMCO MINI PLANT was established in Thessaloniki. The first automobile plant in Greece.

1981

With the cooperation of three (3) major French state Banks, NAMCO gained the license to establish a “big” automotive industry in Greece, including an engine-line. The project, due to political obstacles ,was not started.

1982

NAMCO with CITROËN started the first foreign automobile plant in China, for PONY® vehicles.

1983

A large and successful cooperation with CITROËN in IRAN (SAIPA) was established for PONY®-like automobiles.

1984

Large exports to all NORTH AFRICAN Countries were realized.

1985

The Greek military evaluated the merits of PONY® and purchased thousands for their needs.

1993

Large orders of PONY®, hundreds of thousands vehicles were sold to the U.S.A. with the cooperation of FORD.

1994

Since 1994 we are co-operating with TATA, India.

1995

PONY® was presented in India as a rational car at very low cost and surprised TATA and MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA, creating the ground for more affordable locally manufactured vehicles.

2006

PONY® prototypes built with TOYOTA Yaris drive train.

2009

PONY® prototype built with HYUNDAI Verna drive-train, rationalized for Africa and Asia.

2012

NAMCO’s “UNIPLATFORM” presented. A universal chassis-platform for 17 PONY® models.

2013

PONY® 513, 5th Generation prototype with KIA drive-engine is presented.
In 2013, NAMCO HELLAS AG was accredited to a full-fledged vehicle production license with ISO 9001:2008

2016

NAMCO presented the latest PONY® vehicle 713, EURO 6 light pick-up truck with OPEL drive-train.
